The state list is not a pumper list
Florida does not publish a statewide list of septic pumpers. It publishes a list of registered and master septic tank contractors. DEP's own contracting FAQ says registered contractors and state-licensed plumbers may pump septic tanks with an appropriate active service permit from their local county health department.
That permit is the Septage Disposal Service Permit under rule 62-6.010. It is issued annually, county by county, to the company doing the work — and Florida publishes no statewide list of who holds one. So the honest position is: this directory can show you who is registered to do septic contracting near you, and only the county health department can tell you who is permitted to pump.
The expiration dates contradict the list
Florida registrations expire every September 30. The state publishes two companion files from one nightly export — the people currently registered, and the people who are not — and they do not fully agree with the dates. Of 691 rows on the active file, 404 of the 582 businesses we publish carry an expiration date that has already passed, while still appearing on the active list and staying off the not-registered list.
We do not resolve that for you. Every card shows the state's own published expiration date; the ones that have passed are flagged and sorted last. A flag means “the state's published date has passed, go check” — not “this registration has lapsed.” 30 people who appear on both state files are held back entirely, because there the contradiction is direct.
Verification steps
- Ask for the business name, the registered contractor's name, and the registration number.
- Open the active registered and master septic tank contractors list and match the name, number and phone.
- Check the companion not-currently-registered list for the same person. Appearing there is a red flag worth resolving before you book.
- Call your county health department and confirm the company holds a current septage disposal service permit. This is the step most homeowners skip, and it is the one that actually governs pumping.
- Confirm the company pumps household tanks at your address, then get a written quote.
Registration numbers and business names
An SR number is a registered contractor, SM a master contractor, and SA the business certificate of authorization. Registration belongs to a person, so a business can hold several numbers through its registered staff. Generic business names repeat across unrelated Florida firms, so match the phone and number rather than the name — this directory groups its cards on name and phone together for the same reason.
What we publish
Every business on the state's active file except the 30 contradicted by the not-registered list and 3 with out-of-state addresses — 582 businesses across 63 counties, from the export dated September 3, 2026, retrieved September 5, 2026. Registration covers installation, repair, modification, maintenance and pumping, so businesses whose name never says septic carry a note asking you to confirm household work first.
