How this directory is built

Under Iowa Administrative Code 567 chapter 68, commercial septic tank cleaners must obtain a DNR licence. That state licence is the credential this directory records, and the DNR publishes it already sorted by county, so no geography is inferred here.

The roster dated August 19, 2026 carries 223 licences. We hold 19 clearly portable-toilet, restroom, outhouse or grease-first names that do not say septic or septage, and 1 licensee filed under another state's own county, which cannot sit on an Iowa county page. That leaves 203 published across 84 counties. 20 of those are marked by the DNR as based outside Iowa and filed under an Iowa county; their cards say so.

Excavating, plumbing and drainage firms hold this licence too, so 67 of the 203 published businesses name septic in their business name and the rest carry a note asking you to confirm household work first. The DNR publishes a licence number, contact name, email, address and phone — more contact detail than most states here — but no expiration date, so no card shows one.
