How this directory is built

Under OAR 340-071-0600, a business must hold a DEQ Sewage Disposal Service licence to pump a septic tank in Oregon. DEQ issues that licence in three flavours, and only two of them allow pumping: Pumper and Installer/Pumper. Installer-only licences are excluded here — an installer builds a system and is not licensed to pump one.

Of the 4,810 Sewage Disposal Service licence records DEQ publishes, 217 are currently issued pumping licences. 105 of the 194 published here hold a Pumper licence and 89 hold an Installer/Pumper licence. Oregon is one of the few states here that publishes an expiry date for every licence, so every card shows one. 23 businesses hold an Oregon licence from an address in another state; they are counted but have no Oregon county to sit under, so they are not published on a county page.

The licence is Oregon's septic pumping credential, so nothing is filtered out by name — but plumbing, excavation and portable-restroom firms hold it too, so the 123 businesses whose name does not say septic carry a note asking you to confirm household work first.

DEQ publishes no county. It publishes the licensee's business address, and each city and ZIP is mapped to a county using Census place and county data. 13 businesses sit on a ZIP that spans a county line and appear on each possible county page, saying so on the card. A business county is never a service area: an Oregon licence is a state licence.
