Read the date before you use these pages

DEM publishes this register as a PDF that stamps its own date, and that date is July 16, 2025. Businesses close, change hands and let permits lapse in that time, so this is a starting list, not a current register. Confirm the DEM septage transporter permit before you hire.

How this directory is built

Rhode Island requires a DEM septage transporter permit to pump a septic tank and haul the waste. DEM titles the list “Septic Tank Sewage Pumping Service Companies.” This directory is that list.

Of the 62 permitted transporters, 34 have a Rhode Island base city. 28 are based in another state and are counted but have no Rhode Island county page. The permit is Rhode Island's septage pumping credential, so nothing is filtered out by name — but portable-toilet, plumbing and construction firms hold it too, so the 19 businesses whose name does not say septic or cesspool carry a note asking you to confirm household work first.

DEM publishes a city, not a county. Each city is mapped to a county from Rhode Island's municipalities (and named villages to the town they sit in). That county is the business location, not a service area: a DEM permit is a state permit.
